Your Youngster’s First Day At School

Posted by · Leave a Comment

After 4 years spent at home your kid has grown and developed it’s own character. They are no longer as dependent on you as they were before and the house is getting too little for them. Some children are clearly showing a desire to learn more. That can differ from drawing to reading or clearing up puzzles while they play. It’s at this point that they are finally prepared to take the very next step and start their decade long career in colleges. Out with those diaper bags (luiertassen here in Holland) and in with the crossword puzzles! You might say.

It will feel awkward at the beginning. It’s actually hard for a parent to let go of their kid. But if you used to be a stay home mom or pop I think you might be looking forward to it. As enjoyable as it could be that last year can take quite a heavy toll on your mental well being. As your kid is growing it wants more things to do and you don’t have the time to entertain them 24/7. There are more things worth doing like the dishes, washing or simply relaxing yourself.

At some schools there’s a grace period where your kid can get accustomed to college. They should learn the guidelines and begin to know other children before you leave them there for 6 hours per day. It's a massive transition, one that shouldn’t be treated lightly.

There are a few things you can do as a parent to ease them into this transition. One is to let them play with other children in your area for extended periods. Another is to at least ensure that they can make it during the day without their afternoon sleep. Regular play times and eating food at set times is another good way for your kid to become accustomed to a college like routine.

Which ever way you go about it, letting go will be the hardest part. But fear not , as soon as you notice how fun and challenging school is for them you may lose those feelings within a few days.

Salmsed Turns is a dutch writer with a particular loveof baby related subjects. This is thanks to the fact that he has just become pop of a nice little girl. Bored with all of the kraamcadeaus he found an outlet for that in his writing. Other subjects he likes are (in Dutch) : Zwangerschapslingerie en Luiertassen .
